Duke University’s Identity and Cultural Centers are offering multiple opportunities for members of the Class of 2024 to continue the conversation originating from the Foundations of Equity training provided during Orientation 2020. These 90- minute staff led small group conversations provide an opportunity for our newest community members to continue to consider the foundational concepts related to equity. It also provides an opportunity to take a closer look at anti-Black racism with the support of three-member cross-center staff teams.
2024 class members can sign-up via DukeGroups for one of eighteen sessions offered during the months of September and October. Unlike the 600 plus person Foundations of Equity training, these are planned as intimate small group conversations with twenty-four or fewer participants. We want to hear the voices of students and help facilitate the collective learning of our community around these important topics.
In addition, Duke’s Identity and Cultural Centers are each offering training opportunities during the remainder of this academic year open to all members of the Duke community. Some trainings are newly developed opportunities such as the Jewish Learning Fellowship focused on Racial Equity or newly formatted Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity’s four session PRIDE Training. All are thoughtfully developed and aligned with the University’s commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable community with opportunities for all members of the community to learn, connect and contribute.
