Maurice Dowell

Residency:

November 16, 2016

After graduation, Maurice attended the 2016 American Dance Festival with the help of a Benenson Award, where he auditioned and was cast in LeeSaar's new work, "Bunker". The LeeSaar company is based in New York and mainly works in the realm of Gaga and performance theater. After the summer, he made the move to New York and has been busy auditioning. Currently interning with Gallim Dance (Andrea Miller, Artistic Director), he had the pleasure of joining the company in September for a performance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a work in progress entitled, "Stones Skipping".  The performance took place as part of a private evening for the Friends of MetLiveArts: Firebird Circle. The work is the first piece to be commissioned by the museum in conversation with the Egyptian exhibit's Temple of Dendur. Maurice has also been working with a small company, Drigg Productions, and performed a work in progress, "Magnificent You," on November 4th at the Jersey City Theater Center where the company is in residency as part of the Center's "Vanity" series (http://www.jctcenter.org/events). He also works as an usher at the Joyce Theater and has recently accepted a position as a dance instructor at the Boys Club of New York.
