Join Courtney Kristen Liu, Duke 2013 graduate and dancer at the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, for a unique two-part masterclass. During the first part of class Courtney will conduct a short ballet barre warm-up and a mock Broadway audition. Following the dancing portion, Courtney will speak about financial literacy, networking/auditioning, and resume building for dancers. This is a great workshop for anyone curious about professional performance opportunities post-graduation. Courtney is a professional dancer and teacher currently performing in the Ballet Chorus of the Phantom of the Opera and serving as interim Assistant Dance Captain. Most recently, she originated the title role in Sofie Maybell, a new work created by Marcelo Gomez for PBS/NYC-Arts and the Broadway Dance Lab. Other credits include the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Queen of the Night (Lorin Latarro), Swing! (Lynne Taylor-Corbett), Requiem for Mr. B Developmental Lab (John Selya) , Norwegian Cruise Lines, Peridance Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Disney Cruise Lines, Busch Gardens, and corps de ballet work with the Cincinnati Ballet. Courtney has taught ballet nationally and internationally for the past ten years and currently teaches for the Columbia Ballet Collaborative and Artists Striving Against Poverty (ASTEP).
