A unique dance company, People Get Ready also plays kinetic, irrepressible rock music. Fusing music and dance, they envision a concert as a total artistic experience. Led by the breathtaking imagination of bandleader Steven Reker with Luke Fansano, People Get Ready creates an experience beyond hearing music in a club or viewing a dance.
As part of a Duke Performances, Peole Get Ready presented Specific Ocean. This was an exuberant and inventive live show, with stage dances along with the ensemble, a guitar playing itself, and microphones as dance partners.
While on campus, more than 25 dance students attended two masterclasses given by Steve Reker and Luke Fansano from People Get Ready, November 13 & 14, 2013. They were also invited to an open dress rehearsal of their performance "Specific Ocean" at Reynolds Industries Theater.
