Dancer, dance educator, and candidate for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Duke

Courtney Liu (Psychology, Duke University) is a dancer, dance educator, and candidate for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Duke. Her research focuses on the connections between ballet education, body image, and weight. Performing credits include: Phantom of the Opera Broadway cast, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, Peridance Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Swing! (Lynne Taylor-Corbett), Queen of the Night (Lorin Latarro), Requiem for Mr. B (John Selya), Busch Gardens, and the Broadway Dance Lab (Camille A. Brown, Marcelo Gomes, Andy Blankenbuehler, Josh Prince, Karen Sieber, Geoffrey Goldberg), Prior to performing, Courtney served as the Research Project Manager for an NHI-funded study evaluating the effects of Aprepitant for opioid withdrawal at Bellevue Hospital/NYU Langone Medical Center. Courtney has taught ballet nationally and internationally for the past 12 years and most recently worked with students at the Columbia Ballet Collective, the International Ballet Institute, and the Institute for American Musical Theater in New York City.
