ChoreoLab 2022 Call for Dancers and Choreographers

Student opportunity to perform your work on the mainstage Choreolab Duke Dance Program spring concert in the Rubenstein Arts Center Von der Heyden Theater. The evening will include faculty and student works.

  • First Student Choreographer Adjudication, January 20th from 8:00 – 9:30pm in the Rubenstein Arts Center 201.
  • Adjudicating faculty: Purnima Shah and Andrea E. Woods Valdés
  • Second Adjudication: end of February (date and time to be announced). All selected student choreographers will present their completed choreography at the second adjudication.
  • For live auditions, there will be 20 minute time slots for each student choreographer
  • Alternatively, for students who are unable to attend in-person on Jan 20th you can upload a video or submit a video link.

Each student choreographer will come prepared with (or upload video with) the following information:

  • Provide details about the central idea of their work
  • Talk about their music selection, if any
  • Student-choreographers will present at least 2 minutes of their choreography-in-progress or entire work
  • Total length of each choreography will be limited to 5-6 minutes
  • Specify if solo or group choreography – if group, provide number of dancers
  • Specify if you will need additional props, technical support or projection
