Dance senior project: Avery Lythcott-Haims

April 25, -
This performance work is the culmination of and interdisciplinary study of dance and cultural anthropology. Each discipline can be used to interrogate the other. The tools of anthropology can help dancers see the culture of dance more clearly and make choices about how they want to fit into it. The same goes for any person and how they relate to the world and society at large. The tools of dance and choreography can make visible the dynamics of anthropology- and society- that are otherwise difficult to see clearly, hopefully making an opportunity for critical, rather than blind, participation. This capstone work explores such interrogations through embodied relationships, as relationships are core to the human experience.
