The Duke Student Health building is located next to Penn Pavilion, and dance medicine physical therapist Rosie Canizares is seeing patients on the 3rd floor. To schedule a physical therapy appointment, call 919-681-3288 or e-mail rosalinda.canizares@duke.edu. Financial Aid may assist Duke undergraduate students with medical costs.
The physical therapy services at the Duke Student Wellness Center are not included in the Duke Student Health Fee, and the services will be billed to your health insurance. If your private health insurance requires a physician's referral, you can email rosalinda.canizares@duke.edu to schedule an appointment at the Duke Dancer Wellness Clinic.
The Duke Dancer Wellness Clinic is also another option if you are injured or wish to prevent injury. Located in the Duke Spine Center in Duke South Clinics 1B/1C, an appointment at the Duke Dancer Wellness Clinic typically lasts an hour during which time the following topics will be covered: comprehensive past medical history, nutrition, stress, sleep, and injury prevention, among other topics. This evaluation will be billed to your insurance as an appointment with Dr. Carolyn Keeler, but both she and Dr. Canizares will be present to answer your questions, using both their background as dancers and their professional experience treating dancers. Dr. Keeler can write prescribe physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, medication as needed, and referrals to other specialists.
