We participate each year in the American College Dance Association (ACDA), and it is a wonderful opportunity for you to network with other students and faculty from across the region. It's also a way to explore what it's like to be a dance professional, explore different styles of dance than what is offered at your university, and to perform for a truly appreciative audience.
The Dance Program provides registration fees, round trip transport and hotel accommodation to each student wishing to attend.
The ACDA's primary focus is to support and promote the wealth of talent and creativity in college and university dance departments. The association sponsors regional conferences and the national dance festival that provide a venue for students and faculty to engage in three days of performances, workshops, panels, and master classes taught by instructors from around the region and country. It is an exciting and inspiring experience for our students. We are part of the Mid-Atlantic South region that includes dance departments from Delaware; Washington, DC; Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
The conferences also provide the unique opportunity for you to have your dance works critiqued by a panel of nationally recognized dance professionals in an open and constructive forum. The ACDA conferences are a way for university dance programs to perform outside their own academic setting and be exposed to the diversity of the national college dance world.
